Some more narrow gauge from the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide, South Australia.

Broken Hill Proprietary Limited (BHP) operated a railway on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula to link its inland iron ore deposits with the port and (from the early 1940s) steel mill at Whyalla. An electric tramway using locos built by Metropolitan Vickers took ore from the mines to a loading point on a steam-hauled line to Whyalla. The locos used on this line were Baldwin 4-6-0s and 2-8-2s. All the lines were 3'6" gauge.

Builder's Plate for E1. Iron Knob was the name of the mine - probably not one that would have enjoyed a lot of popularity today!! The others were at Iron Baron and Iron Monarch.

Observation car - now I have three coaches - my bank account tells me this is enough - as a tourist train it just might be long enough.

Time to bump this thread, I think. Any takers for a Melbourne City Circle tram? The route's not actually circular (or wasn't when we visited), it's an out-and-back P-shaped loop integrated into the other downtown routes. Good way to see the sights.

Britannia passing the corner of my road a few days ago - Saturday 10th December. A nice crisp cold morning and pulling 13 coaches up the gradient from Woodgrange Park station to cross over the Liverpool Street main line.

My word, they are LIGHT Pacifics! Slipped on every start and even on slight inclines while doing about 40 mph.

A nice touch was that my pre-supper drink (scotch) was ready and waiting for me when we got back on for the return journey

Happy Christmas & a Happy New year to all!

I liked Chris M's cable car. I converted mine to a single ended tram for my city circle which wont be circular more like a dogs bone...
I found mine needs some ballast over the powered bogie so I'll make us some lead weights.....

A structure of character, I think, and worthy of modelling. Would suit a rural location almost anywhere in Europe or the USA, although it was actually seen in France. The only thing holding it up was that it was stuffed full of firewood. When I went back a few years later it had gone, so I never got a colour shot.
