The first G Scaler I met from the forum was Bigjack, when I was invited to visit his home and the EMGR.

Mizzy and I have since become friends with Steve and Mary, and it was an honour to be asked to witness their marriage earlier this year, along with fellow G scalers John and Ann.

John, Ann, Steve, Mary, Mizzy and Gizzy....

The photo of my Earl running after fitting forward and reverse control to it. This is in preperation for the 6 days of running for " Thomas the Tank Engine " days here in Golden , Colorado. Last year we had 24,000 riders for the 6 days. We have already run 2 days and have 4 more to go . Last year my Earl racked up 42 hours of running for the event.

No railway interest, but a nice bit of architectural detail I found on a porcelain and tile factory wall in Desvres, Northern France, in 2009. As I took the picture they were knocking down the other end of the building. Shame nobody thought it worth preserving.

Now here's a curiosity! Apart from the fact that it is steam powered, it does surprisingly have a railway connection, does anybody know what that is? (and it isn't that the railway line runs right up the jetty.)

The only thing I miss about moving up to Norfolk is the amount of steam activity on the Waterloo main line.

Here's 73096 on an up "Cathedrals Express" approaching Hook (just going under the A30 road bridge). Date is 9 July 2003.

Hi Don

I used to live in one of the roads in Wimbledon that ends next to the yard next to the mainline. We left in 2005 but I can remember the 'specials' blasting past in all their glory...great times!

PICTURES LADS.
Come on play the game or it gets deleted.

Bob, wasn't the steamer owned by the LNER?

It is the "Maid of the Loch" on Loch Lomond, Paul, it has been there for ever! I remember day trips out of Glasgow when I was about 8 yrs old to take the steamer up the loch and climb the Ben, have sarnies at the top, and come back down to catch it on the flip-flop. It was indeed owned by the railway. It is now in preservation and has had extensive work completed, but the usual problem of lack of cash is ever present.

Pictures late Sept 2008.
