55015 with Wireless not sending all function buttons

I just connected an LGB 55015 remote using the wireless transmitter (55051) and the wireless receiver (55056).

It works fine except for the Sound module. I have an LGB 65000 sound unit on the track.

When the 55015 was hard wired, all sound buttons worked.

When I have it connected using the wireless, I lose the 2 and 4 buttons and sometimes the 8.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I am not inclined to play with the CVs given that it works OK when hard wired.

Sounds like a Serial/Parallel function issue to me.

Are your MTS components Parallel or Serial?
MTS2 or 3?

When connected via cable, when you press the 4 button, how many times does the display flash? Also when connected wireless, how many times then?

Do the 55015, 55051 & 55056 have a "p" sticker on them?

For parallel commands to work, all of the above components must be "p" enabled. Mixing of "p" enabled & non "p" enabled components will prevent Parallel commands being processed.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am operating in Parallel in both wired and wireless on the 55015.

MTS III

Single flash of LED when any function button is pressed.

As a recap, I set up the 55015 with the wired connector. All function buttons work fine.

I then pull out the wired connector and plug in the 55051. I can start and stop the loco. All function button work except when activating the sound unit, 2, 4, and sometime 8 do not work. I get a single blink of the LED.

I am going to try to start from scratch and go back to the wired connector and get everything reset. I'll then unplug and plug again ans see if that works.

John, sorry if I'm really asking Muns' question again in a slightly different way.... but do your 55051 radio sender and the black receiver module both have a little round sticker on the units themselves, with a white "P" on a black background....?

All your other components (the handset and the central station) may well be Parallel enabled, thus they're working fine when cabled up, but if either of the R/C components isn't then that might well be your problem.....

If that's all OK, then it is worth double-checking the cable that you're using to connect your central station to the receiver module - last year I spent an incredibly frustrating time trying to troubleshoot an RC connection problem with my Massoth setup, only to (eventually) discover that it was a dodgy cable between the 1200Z and the receiver - good enough that the little red LED on the receiver was on, thus making me think it was working, but not good enough to actually transmit the command data! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Jon.

Jon,

Thanks again for your reply.

Your questions are fine. I hope my reply did not make you think otherwise.

The 55056 has no "P" marking.

i emailed the store I bought it from to see if they now.
I opened the unit up and there are no markings on the board.

There are four DIP switches set to off. wonder if those have any impact.

I am going to check to see if I can discern the timing of the command to the reaction, i,e does F1 react at the dame time as the F9. My thought it is that if it is sending serial, I should be able to discern 9 pules vs 1.

That 55051 is certainly not a P, no sticker can be seen on your pic. The
55056 should have a P as well underneath probably. But as Ziggy says perhaps your problem could be the US Reciever thing? Certainly if the Sender is not compatible.

One wonders why LGB did not give different Numbers to all the relavent parts. After all there are only Stickers on them all! But we are where we are so probably as well not to thread drift too much.

I will iterate that all MTS components must be "p" enabled to send parallel commands.

There are 2 possible ways to determine if a component is "P" enabled.

1) The part number will have a "p" suffix, i.e. 55015p
2) There will be a round black sticker with a white "P" attached to the product.

All items in the command chain (Handset -> Transmitter -> Receiver -> Central Station) must be "p" enabled to work correctly.

Mark,

The pics I sent were stock photos off the Web.

I do have a P on all but the 55056. Not sure if is just missing the P sticker or if it is in fact serial.

I have a phone call into he place I bought from (Onlytrains.com) It was a used item.

I am going try Jon's suggesting and get a replacement RJ11 cable between the 55056 and the MTS III Central Station.

I can see the light blink on the Central Station when I enter commands with the wireless, except for the commands that are not working. The response time on the ones that work is instantly, i.e. the 1 reacts as fast as the 9 and that tells me it is parallel. I'd prefer to see a "P" sticker on the unit but for now, I am going to assume it Parallel and a try a new cable.

Another odd bit of behavior.

I powered everything up with the wireless transmitter in the 55015.

I pressed the F - 8 and it responded immediately. Flashed amber on the MTS III and the sound turned off as it should do.

After that, pressing the F - 8 did nothing. No flash of the LED on the MTS III and no change in sound, i.e on and off

John,

If the CS does not blink when you press 9 for example when connected via wireless and it does when you press 1 and the transmitter is "p" enabled then I would strongly suspect that the receiver is not "p" enabled.

If the cable between the receiver and the CS fails, no commands would be actioned. Its only 4 wires, 2 power and 2 signal.

I am not sure if it is still possible to upgrade the receiver - Massoth used to do it but I believe they discontinued that service.

That is the odd part.

1,3,5,7, and 9 work fine with the wireless and work instantly. flash of light on the MTS CS and immediate response.

No response from 2, 4, or 8. (6 is set to control the smoker and I am ignoring that for now.)

I am going to set the commands to serial and see if that works.

Mystery solved.

You gents were correct.

I put the 55015 in Serial mode and all commands worked.

I will try to the the 55056 upgraded.

Thank you all for your help and patience with this.
