Hope I am in the correct forum,I am looking for the most realistic trees for gscale.I am aware of at least 2 x German outlets, but thought I would ask I am looking for European trees I am not able to make trees myself

They look really good!Hi Steve
Let me share my idea for trees, they may not be everyone’s idea of ‘scale’, but they work for me for indoors, and could be adapted for outdoors.

Hi Phil,Are these for inside or outside?
Permanent layout, or will you be moving it around?
Making trees is not too difficult, but can be time consuming..
PhilP.
Busch did produce some, way back. I had a pair at my branch line station (no pun intended), but although they were sold as suitable for outdoors, a couple of years' exposure to UV made the foliage disintegrate and drop off. I've not seen them for sale for a while (this was at least 11 years ago):Hello everyone
Hi Phil,
Many thanks for your reply, afraid I am not up to making my own,.I think there was at least 1 German tree maker? but have not been able to re-find them?
all the very best Steve![]()

Hi Jon,Model trees big enough to look right for G scale tend to be very, very expensive, as has already been mentioned above... and even then they are never really big enough (a common problem with most model railways, people seldom use trees that are genuinely a "realistic" size, because we all tend to under-estimate just how big real trees get!).
I appreciate that you've already said you don't feel up to making your own, but a relatively easy and inexpensive method is to find some nicely shaped real twigs that have several suitable "branches" (I'm not a plant/tree expert, I don't know if anyone can suggest the best sort of species to look for?), and get some of the big bulk packs of green lichen that you can buy from floristry suppliers or online (much cheaper than the small bags sold in model shops!) - a big splurge of PVA white glue to fix the lichen to the twig branches, and you will very quickly have some nice-looking trees at a fraction of the cost...
Jon.
Hi Jon,
afraid I am not up to making my own trees.I will wait for P&S Models get a supply in from Germany. My layout will be small and indoors.all the very best Steve
If you want fir trees, also look out for the cheap "mini Christmas trees" on sale around this time of year, in Garden Centres and discount stores - either with or without "snow" effects depending on the season of your layout!
Jon.
Edit: it's October now, so I assume I'm safe using the "C" word...??![]()
