Last month, we hit Italy. Arriving at Tarino on the Berninna Express. After a nice 'welcome to Italy' meal, we got a local down to Milan. Train was one of those brand new Regional electrics. Next day, we shot over to Venice on a fast train. A few days later, returned to Milan for a quick transfer to a loco hauled Inter City made up of corriador stock to La Spezia. One day, it was fast ferry back up to Monterosso for a dip in the tide, and a feed, before a Regional double decker back to La Spezia. On to Rome involved a 3 leg trip... Inter City to Pisa, Regional to Florence, and (very) fast train into Rome. Finally, it was the Leonardo Express out to the Airport.
I must say, very enjoyable, easy to use, and great memories. Oh, and that heat wave...... :-\
