Like the use of gabions - you must be a pioneer in the use of them for a garden line. Well thought out! In the full-size version, Irish Rail have used them on a section of the Sligo line to hold up the track and ballast.

those gabions look the biz Don
nice to see the line developing again

The track from the Warfe has reached back this far,

Gabions have also been placed to keep stone heaps back in the narrows there
thats Eric casting his beady eye over them
track supplies are the only thing holding up progress now

Its Bill, looks like he's counting wagons, very demanding job, needs to sit down to concentrate,
but when it rains I think he will have to rig some sort of canopy over the front

With flush track it is preferred practice on Stoneycombe, (in hind sight)

to keep mortar mix well away from moving parts,

AND thus also allow drainage, so frost damage does not occur

Plus also hosepipe is then good for clearing stray grit from points
 
But as the runoff goes towards the spoil heap back up occured and pools formed when testing

So remove spoil heap & add drainage
