Quarries can be dangerous for the unwary

Here wet surface over dry interior can lead to "crusting" and cave ins or slips

more dangerous when large stones come loose from the waste & roll down on you

I'm always sure of a smile when I come on to this thread. Keep up the good work please.

Educational too - I've seen loads of those cage of rocks in place, but never knew they were called Gabions.

Great story Don .

I can't think of another superlative to add, so I'll just say that I agree with everything that's been said (and double it!) :)

Hi Don,

Keep up the story telling, it brings your railway to life and I can't wait to hear what's happening next.

Thanks fellas for your kind words

Just pootling along slowly now with details

got lots ideas for small scenarios

one I am thinking of is an old 1/2 barge (35ft) in derilict state on the back quayside partially covered with tarps

which of course in my scale is 35 ins long

probably do a ply mock up of the bit on show

Of course in the last 12 months the main circuit at the back there has seen a lot of use

I am struggling, I like well worn, well worked stock, But I do like Jenny Frugal & her train of modern tanks all shining green

But I suppose beeing an ex lorry driver, I KNOW that transport cant stay clean for long, it aint natural

So I am leaning towards weathering them, . . maybe. . , sometime. . .
