Wellington Garden Railway Group (Inc). July Meet.

A rather dubious mob of G scalers indoors at Wayne Hastes G scale layout. Of course, we schedule an indoor meet, for the second month in a row in the middle of winter, and it is a cloudless day outside again.

Yep it was a cloudless day outside, but rather cool especially in the shade so the change to test out on Wayne's large indoor test DR empire was much appreciated. As Wayne say it's really his big test track so there is no scenery, but he has plans for a complete rebuild, this time with some scenic dioramas.

Right some pictures: -

Timber yard with loco depot behind...

It was Sunday so not much in steam at the loco depot...

Wayne's Mallet was in action though and "function 4 turns the sound off" was one of the day's discoveries...

Action at the southeast corner station...

Conversation and concentration! That's Wayne with his arm out stretched...

Lots of guest equipment ran, mostly battery powered which was a bit different since Wayne use LGB's MTSIII system.

Ian G's Revolution controlled Mack with battery match wagon hauling at train load of borrowed DR rolling stock without effort up grade...

Passing trains in the northeast corner. Dave A's TE (old style) controlled battery power Critter & Wayne's Mallet...

Chris R is trying to look innocently at his railcar and Wayne is bending down attempting to provide distraction so Chris can slip $10.00 WGRG Inc sub to Ian without Pam noticing - didn't work!...

Brian R tucked in the corner behind the west yard is ordering "just one beer" and Brian C is looking away thinking "yeah right"...

Chris R's neat scratch built railcar. It's has on board batteries and is Revolution controlled...

The south yard is a bit quite apart from passing visitors...

Chris R's railcar again, now hauling some of his scratch built 16mm (1:19 scale) stock wagons...

And the sun set ending a fun afternoon.

Thanks to Wayne and Diana for hosting us. This may have been our first running day since the Wellington Garden Railway Group became and incorporated society but the humour during the day proves we're still the same informal bunch of mad hatters! Some of the best laughs I've had in ages:rolf: oh and the trains were pretty good to.

Nice pics John, an interesting array of motive power!!

I'll echo that - nice pics. Sorry I couldn't make this one!

:impatient: ..and why not? Heathrow is only a two horse change carriage ride away, NZ2 leaves daily, and you even get a 737 for the connecting leg to Wellington... there is even a same day return service, allowing a full day in our glorious Capital.
