welcome to the St Margrets and Dimchurch Light Railway

Model railways
Well i thought it was about time i updated what ive been doing in the garden.
As some of you may remember i started off with a single tracked dogbone oval using up all the track i had at the time then after buy a couple of collections i ended up with a complicated series of sidings and reverse loops that was both a pain to operate and looked like a taggled ball of string,
so after extending the original loop i ripped up most of it and kept it simple so what you see now is the finished track plan for the top bit anyway,
The mainline is run on analogue with 5 switched isolated sections the idea being the controler for that line is set to one reasonable speed each section is controled by a single threeway switch, Off, On and resisted On which cuts the power by half to slow a train down in that section

This is the bottom loop the outside curves are rad 3 the smaller is rad1 and is an extra access to the main station area
where you can see the transformers is the access to yet to be build train shed

This is an over view of the top part with the station on the right, the platforms will be in the gaps. You can see a little branch line snaking down that will endup over on the left by the pile of rubble by the fence and join the lower main line (more about that later) with a little wayside station or maybe a coal transfer yard.

The bend in the top left corner will be covered by a huge mountain and the fence on both sides of the garden and along the top will me 4ft high mountains with a rail line starting from the GRS point on the bottom right of the pictuce and winding its way to the middle of the big mountain where it will vanish into a mine at some point that line will spilt and run through a forest to a logging camp on top of the mountain

This is the other side of the Garden here will be a lower mainline that joins the upper line via two ramps the down ramp is the one that starts in the middle of the two upper loop platforms and goes down over the top pond where the small branch splits. the up ramp will be rising along the fence into the mountain and around the apple tree and becomes the outer line on the top loop (More about that later) the idea is that the top loop is to be a detailed miniture village the lower loop will be ground level so that the garden will still have family use.

This is a view from inside the mountain looking back towards the station area with the branch spliting from the lower down ramp

"
just a few more random shots of trains and stuff from today the line on the left with the box cars is a passing loop thinly disguised as a good depot siding

hope you can understand my ramblings and ideas will post more about the lower loop next time
