I want to give a little Porter loco a bit more grunt to tackle my heavy gradients.
To this end I have thought of an LGB powered tender.
It is small enough not to dwarf the loco and although I would prefer black, I would also think of customising another coloured one.
I will have to change it somewhat to Americanise it anyway.

I could put one of my motorised freight cars in the train but a powered tender is a good option for this small loco.

Thanks Playmo
A little pricey though (as GRS tends to be most of the time).
I was hoping for one that is a bit cheaper and may need a bit of 'attention' cosmetically as I will be customising it anyway.

Somewhere I have a spare black Nicky & Franc tender. It's a bit bigger (see picture on Zerogee's thread). Any use?

Hi Mike
Thank you muchly for the offer.
Because I am not experienced with the european locos, I am not sure how much bigger the 'Nicky' tender is than the one I was after.
It will be behind a "porter' loco so it would have to be a similar width and not too tall as the porter itself is a pretty small.

Glendale's second-hand page indicates they are getting one in at the end of November - but no indication of price for it as yet.... it is a sound-equipped one so won't be as cheap as you'd like it, Mike!

Jon.

Cheers Playmo
I used to use Vectis a fair bit a few years back, but their realised prices became too high as more 'enthusiasts' found them and less dealers bid on the larger stuff.

If I remember rightly the Nicki & Franck S tender won't run alone, it has to be connected to the chipboard in the loco.

That's not a problem, just common up 3 of the wires.

I sent a "conversation" last Wednesday about a tender & had no response. Has the tender matter been resolved or has my conversation gone into the black hole.
