W&L Brake Van Paint Scheme

I saw a video on Youtube that showed the rear of the W&L brake van had been painted red in contrast to the grey of the body of the car. Is this for safety reasons ? or what ? Is this a new revision in recent years ? I have two brake vans and am thinking of repainting one of them just for the fun of it .
