Turnouts and pickup shoes…

I have just added my very first turnouts to a garden system, (adding reversing loops)…

I noticed my loco coming out of loop in one of the directions will derail, so watched it slowly and see the culprit.

the pickup shoe seem to wedge in the frog area and derails.

what is this likely to be, how would I approach solving this?

That’s a strange one! Are your turnouts new? Also what brand of turnouts and locos have you got?

Check for level across the track..

It is easy to get a twist, and it can be enough to snag a skate..

You can (CARE!) bend up the base of the skate a little. - Use pliers, and support the leg of the skate. It is easy to break the carrier that the skate slides up and down in..

If it is a USA Trains engine, change to LGB skates/shoes. I have fixed several USA engines doing this.
