Hi Nico
Built my trestle several years back now and still looks in good condition . When i fixed the trestles together i used 2mm nuts and bolts so if any part of the trestle needs replacing i simply unbolt the rottern part and bolt on a replacement.

Hi Nico,

No the bottom of the trestle bent - where at the time of the photo you had no horizontal cross pieces. Like the bolted idea.

Just pinned and glued mine.......the stringers were made from deckboard.
Used waterproof glue so hopefully it will last.....and used real cedar for the bents :D

Hi Peter, the bottom is 9".I was thinking of pushing the into gravel and lightly cover the gravel with clay.the horizontal might still be an option i will try out one or two and see how it looks,im still of two minds as to whether to paint them or not
