This is a tramway coach. Actually this one is made from a Bachmann street car. No reason you couldn't use them as is. There are plenty around with dead motors and could be made into free-wheelers quite easily. Also gives you the option of having toast-rack carriages.

Yes good idea Ron - actually quite true to life too (from 4-wheeler to bogies). My open-sided cross bench was converted into a trailer.

Like your conversion and liveries too Mike - did you buy or rob the bow collector?

In fact, I like this thread - always been into trams - particularly steam tram engines. Some nice modelling and bashing.

My other trams and trailers/coaches -

Castlederg & Victoria Bridge Tramway - I'm sure colour isn't correct! But I like it anyway. Totally scratch built (apart from motor and pair of gears). Box van is track pick-up - this has Bachman metal wheels - otherwise built from ply and scrap.

Leeds Kitson tram engine (still awaiting roof-mounted condenser pipes after five years!). Trailer leeds Tramways Co. as originally built by them. It was later converted to a bogie car and then later cut down to a single-decker.

All built to 1.22. If I were to build them now I would use 15mm scale. Leeds was always standard gauge of course whilst Castlederg was Irish narrow gauge.

Bow collectors were home made. Take a pattern from an LGB bow & make it out of brass wire & copper tube. Soldered together. The hardest bit was finding the springs. These were from old Bachmann trolley poles.

Neat Mike. I made one for my steeple cab. Then it caught the tunnel roof. Bag of bits at the moment. Put dummy trolley poles on for now. As you say, the springs are a problemto get hold of. I wonder if anybody knows a stockist?

I like the bow collectors, for springs try Proops ( I had a job lot of Buhler motors a few years back at a £1 a throw!!!! they are now fitted in all the Bachmann trams) Nice conversions BTW Alyn:Looser:
