Hi all,

A further video from the ‘archives’ I found on my video camera, and, since I have worked out how to join ‘takes’ together and upload to YouTube, it is now your turn to suffer !!

This one was taken during the layout tours of the National Garden Railroad Convention in Tampa, FL in 2014 at a keen enthusiast home where he had set up a series of tracks and trains demonstrating the history of trains in the USA. Apparently he had help from contacts at Disney with scenery and sound.

The video is a bit ‘jumpy’ and the sound a bit – you know – however the area was very small and there were a lot of people. The guy who placed his head in front of the camera about half-way through is a friend of mine from Spokane, WA – so he didn’t get yelled at !

Shows what can be done with lots of trains and a fair bit of $ with a little help from Disney.

Ah! Happy memories, we were there at the convention, with our daughter and SIL and we visited Mark Rosenrhal's railway, very impressive . Did you purchase one of his DVD's that he had on sale in the kitchen?
At that time, I was not a member of this forum so, although we got to talk to a lot of like minded railway folk, I'm not sure if I met you??? ....... Did you stay at the convention hotel?
I must dig the convention car out and give it a run, it's still in pristine condition, in it's box!
A great time, we should do something more like that in the UK!

Hi Tankerman, It is nice to bring back memories like this. Don't recall the DVD, and there were some 1,200 conventioneers and yes we stayed the conv.hotel - Embassy Suites I think. They had a great happy hour - free bar drinks and nibblies every night.

Rowan if you were at one of the 'happy hours ' where there was a chap playing the grand piano, that was my son in law
As a hobby, he is the keyboard player in 'Mr Nice Guy' rock band, in the Miami area.

An impressive collection of locos and rolling stock. Nice to see some playmobil buildings (depot and water tower) in the scenic areas!
