Track Circumference

With regards to LGB track, specifically R1. Where is the circumference measured from? Outer sleeper edge, outer rail edge, inner rail edge, inner sleeper edge? I can't find anything that makes reference to where the circumference is stated from, and I don't currently have any R1s to find out myself.

Or do you want to know how long your line is? I did a much simpler job by just using a foot ruler and using that going round the line. Ok so not perfectly accurate but near enough for me. Cant be bothered with all that pieRsquared nonsense, even if I could remember how it is calculated.

Exactly this. I don't want to waste money on track that may now work in the space available....
 
You see, I have a rough idea in my head, R1 as you all know would allow all my stock to use the new turning circle.... I recently used the Heyn R0 curve's which are brilliant, but as you all know they're limited in what can use them. Both are options. I'd just prefer R1.

Here's the rough plan.... I can tell by looking and not measuring that R1 will be tight fit, if at all possible. I don't want to go over the path, I was lucky to get planning for this, let alone....

Do you have any unused R1’s about? If so try to make copies on some old paper, newspaper will do at a pinch by using felt tip markers. So long as you make the the ‘stencil’ for ant of a better word exact you can cut out enough to lay your plan out in situ to see what is truly possible.
 
Come on, it's just a brick path! What's so hard about moving a couple of bricks? We all know what's the most important thing here. It's the railway, not the path! :D Seriously, try Anyrail's free version, up to 50 pieces of track, which should easily handle your needs. (anyrail.com) I've found it to be pretty accurate in measurements and spacing on my Two-Door railroad. It will let you print full size paper templates after you've tried various arrangements on the computer screen. And, uh...by planning do you mean SWMBO or Council or whatever it is over there? We have zoning, city/county planning and, heaven forbid, Homeowner's Associations to deal with. Nice to watch the railway grow and I look forward to seeing the latest expansion.
 
I've been out with my tape measure today, and I can confirm R1 is 120 cm from centre to centre Paul. Or 4ft in old money.

Not that you need it, but R2 is 152 cm between centres.

PiKO R3 could be used to make a 3rd parallel track around my R1/R2 loop, with LGB R4 a 4th....

Measured from outside edge of sleeper to outside edge of sleeper, the DIAMETER is 131mm. It's just struck me that that is what this thread is about, not the circumferenece

I'm not surewhat is happening where the the loop meets up with the incoming track, apparently with a crossover, or is that a slip of the felt tip?

I think that the curves and bends where the line bends round the obstructions in the drive will affect the position of the loop on the grass so it may be worth investigating this too.
