Gave me a laugh - must be a pain for the guy who has to reverse his as it is permanently on rail wheels but the convertible looks to be a good idea.

Are rail wheels a VW dealer option in snowy climates? ;)

Sounds like the perfect solution instead of being stuck on a motorway in bad weather ;) .. Would have to hope that the trains are not running though ! or it could get abit messy.

another one

enjoy it

Interesting to see the rubber tyred Golf wheels appear to be Standard Gauge.

Reminds me of the time I was driving around the Sheffield Ring Road to Dronfield, shortly after the completion of the Sheffield Super Tram. The tracks ran in the reserved central reservation, but at road junctions, they came into the road and the outside (fast) lane. The speed limit around the Ring Road was 60 mph.

I had a Cavalier at the time, and I was approacing a junction when the lights changed to red. I started to slow, then suddenly, I was on the tram tracks and the wheels were on the rails.

I thought that I wouldn't be able to stop at the white line and I was rather worrried to say the least, as the car slid along the rails. Fortunately, the car did stop at the lights, and I didn't cause an accident.

Often wondered if this was a hazard later....

Im not going to comment Gizzy. :rolf:

In some cities you can find trams and tramrails,

always nice, slipping cars, and pedestrians, and for the cylists its even worse what do you thint that wil happen when you drive your front wheel in the rail:laugh::laugh::rolf:
