Yes I can hear you say, Dunny has finally lost the plot. But well not quite, Toothpaste has a place in the model railway mans aresenal. Very useful in metal chassis to loosen those tight bearings and possibly for odd cleaning jobs as well. Just do not forget to clean off the residue very well - oh and do not use SWMBO’s toothbrush. Save an old one for such jobs.

But look more carefully at that “Rolling Toothpaste Squeezer”, can you think of another use for it? Neither could I when I first got mine but there was a nagging doubt that I should get more than the 2 that I initially bought. Yes you got it how about for Tubes of Glue, that dratted tube where that glue always bunches at the wrong end. Used properly and when finger squeezing does not work a gentle turn should keep the glue at the end where needed. Plus it will sit nicely upright on the workbench. What is not to like? I got mine from Ebay, lots of prices think the originals were £1.98 including postage. More now in their way to Dunny Towers.

You can buy the red slotted key bit on it's own. Not quite as effective, but cuts down on the waste. I got a bag of ten assorted sizes from The Works a few years ago - ostensibly for tubes of paint.

Do you recommend any particulat flavour of toothpaste, stripped or unstripped....
