And in the best stingy old pensioner tradition , the old wall has been re-cycled to make the footpath outside Corris Cottage .

I'm being called away now for another animal related job. You won't believe what we're about to have to do to the rabbit .

Just been showing your thread to Miz Giz Liz, mainly because she's an animal lover, but she is veeery impressed with what you have done Mel, and she's sloooowly coming round to the fact that the railway is an 'interesting' garden feature.

And she has even hinted that we might have a Madder's Open Day....

The town bit looks really good, much like Welshpool. The drivers of the landrover and mini must be getting a bit fed up though, they seem to have been waiting there for ages!

That'll do for me James . If it reminds a Welshpool boy of Welshpool, that's what I was always aiming for . The Landy and Mini have got away now, but the bus driver ain't very happy today .

Anyhoo, today has been a "dogs and walls" day. I got these tiny white metal dogs from Back2Bay6 months ago and have just got around to painting them. First is my sister in law's spaniel, Maisey .

That grass needs cutting .............. MIKE!!

on my way

Looking good Mel. Poppy will be along soon to investigate

(not sure about the colour of my hair though )

I would have thought Spike and Frankie would scare Poppy off.

Jumpy definitely would....

No, she's been before. She soon makes herself at home .

With the new wall painted and fixed in place, I was able to ballast the track through the narrows. The patch of grass not only looks pretty, it will (hopefully) keep the ballast in place if the fire station needs to be lifted out for lighting etc.

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 03:48 PM

All of this needed testing .

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 03:52 PM

Then I had a look at Wetton depot. Many months ago this had 3 sidings including one for the engine shed ................

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 03:54 PM

.......... but when I extended the circuit, these sidings were in the way of the new crossing ...............

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 03:56 PM

........... so I was only left with enough room for 2 shorter sidings. To fit the engine shed in, I tried slewing one of the sidings, but I didn't like the way it looked ........

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 03:59 PM

........... so I ended up with this. But I still wasn't happy. In fact, I didn't even re-wire the sidings and they sat un-used. I didn't like the way that engines parked outside the shed sat on a curve. Most of them wouldn't fit in the shed anyway because it's too narrow (especially when approached on that curve)............

yb281 Mar 17 2009, 04:01 PM

So I thought I'd forget running the one siding into the shed and position the building as if it wasn't rail connected, maybe a workshop of some kind. Tried it the other way around. I'd have to paint those windows .
