Today on the WGLR

The repaired Annie has now got a smart new coat of Rover Damask Red and some running boards. One of Steve's interior kits is planned next time we got over to B2B6, or possibly from Llanfair.

Many thanks again Ian. The old girl has turned out to be a very useful coach.:thumbup:

Looking good Mel:thumbup:
According to Steve's website, he's closed until 6th September, first for holidays and then preparing for Llanfair.

Ah, cheers for that Keith. I'll drop Steve an email and ask him to keep one for me at Llanfair.

First job today was to spend a couple of hours clearing the railway of tree debris from the recent pruning (scalping??). This allowed trains to start running again and the tram service saw the first revenue earning journey for the ex Cogges Railway Annie coach. Funny though, it's dirty already? And the passengers must have been standing as the interior kit won't be arriving til the week after next??

In other news - something strange has happened alongside the signal box down at Stumpy Junction. A short siding (or rather, just a short length of track) has appeared.

Wonder what that can be for?????????:thinking:

Quite right Chuggy mate.

A couple of new developments from the last couple of days.

First of all, the unidentified factory at the end of Gooey station has now got an identity. No-one seems to be quite sure if that tank is full of fuel oil for the ovens, or jelly for the pork pies????

It all seems rather scrummy, until you see the advert at the other end of the building. It then all becomes a bit worrying. :bleh::bleh:

Give that man a carrot. :rolf:

So thats
stand pipe
dustbins
meat safe
fire hose with visible cover
and/or
gas cylinders
&/or running water & wifi hotspot all inside
so no visible outside clutter except steps!!!!!!

oh, and, &
no weathering
except algae on the roof
( ever seen a caravan after its been parked up over winter???)

I am enjoying this project Mel!! :rolf:

Meanwhile, I've been on the lookout for a suitably agricultural load for my recently built standard gauge CARFIT flat wagon. An ebay search threw up a couple of likely candidates in the right (ish) scale including a lovely Fordson tractor, but that went for more than I really wanted to pay. However, I was successful with this little beauty.

It's a wonderfully old fashioned tin plate, clockwork toy made in the Czech Republic. It's got a 3 forward + reverse gearbox, a handbrake and working Ackerman steering - great fun as me and Mr Whatlep found out as soon as it arrived, driving it around the slabs. It even came with a trailer!!!

OK, it's much more of a toy than a scale model, but as long as it was 1950's/60's tractor shaped, I had a plan. I "found" an old hankerchief that would work as a tarpaulin. Not wanting to spoil the tractor and wanting to keep it available for the occasional play (otherwise Peter would have sulked), I covered the tractor in cling-film. Then the tarp was soaked in a 50-50 mix of water and PVA and moulded to the tractor shape. A couple of hours in the sun (cos we had some today) and the tarp was removable without losing it's shape ........... and the tractor was fine underneath.:thumbup:

The tarp was then airbrushed with Tamiya matt acrylics, black first then dark grey to add some texture. This was great fun as the tarp was very light and every time I went near with the airbrush, it blew away.:confused:

I haven't chained the load down, although I have correctly set the chock beams, as I want to able to move it onto a narrow gauge wagon when the mood suits ............ as well as giving it the occasional drive around the garden.:bigsmile:

Some excellent additions lately, Mel. Can we assume that alongside the Pies made with Shell jelly, the local cider works adds anti-freeze to its product? :)

Wasn't that Austrian wine mate? :rolf:

Don reminded me, Neil will pleased to see that the grounded coach body has now been weathered.

When I was gluing the replacement roof on I over-did the old glue at one point and it crackled and flaked the paint. So, at various points I dribbled on a bit of liquid poly cement and worked it in with my fingers (messy!). This caused some nice flaked paint patches some of which just went down to the primer, some went right down to the original plastic. Various browns were then dry brushed on to represent the wooden framework showing through.
