Today on the WGLR

A second battery RC set from Cliff Barker arrived yesterday, so it needed testing today - two trains under independant control running at once on the WGLR for the first time. Not very prototypical, but good fun .

The tramway diesel ran with the new battery set in the little WGLR van which has a cardboard body on an LGB feldbahn chassis.

Meanwhile, the steam tram ran with the original battery set in the passenger baggage van.

As Cliff also sent me a stock of connecting leads, I also converted Hunslet No.2 to battery control. She's been fitted with those spectacle rings you sent me Steve .

Also temporarily put the new lytch gate for St. Marks church in place. Still a fair amount of work to do in this area - including actually fitting some gates .

This is looking better and better every time you post .
Have you ever been to Borton on the water model village ?

Not been there for years myself since i moved from Cheltenham.
I am sure there also used to me a model railway there.

Yep there was
Cheers mate. Yes, when I was stationed in Evesham we quite often went to Bourton after my shift tour had finished. Not been for a couple of years though. The model railway is part of a shop which has loads of good stuff (mostly OO for railways), but it ain't cheap as you'd probably expect in a tourist hot spot. Birdland is opposite the model village and is very good too. Also a little motor museum at the other end of the village.

Don't think Bourton on the Water Model Village ever had a railway Steve?

Are you thinking of Bekonscot....

Some great pics there Mel, lots of character. Where did you get the model of the digger on the lowmac in the first set of pics?

Excellent pictures as always, Mel. You manage to apply indoor modelling standards to the outdoors while keeping the level of detail high. Looking forward to more views of the new line as the weather improves.

Cheers guys .

This afternoon some track lifting took place in the area of Gooey station. The old goods/carriage road and kick-back siding was lifted and slewed across to become the road for platform two.

This has left an empty track bed that appears to be quite a bit ........... errrrrrrr ................ wider than the narrow gauge would require. What on earth could be happening here??????:bigsmile:

i wonder  nice shots matey it was lovley out today and looks like you made the most of it

Been fiddling today - I loiks fiddling I does .

The Tuxcraft factory that was on the outskirts of Gooey has gone, it wasn't up to standard any more. It's now sitting in the undergrowth at the back of the old quarry. Probably not be long til the vandals start smashing the windows.

The Schleich castle that used to feature in the town on WGLR mk1 is now in the street that runs to the back of Wetton yard - so I guess that makes it Castle Street now .

And the big brass water tower that used to live behind Wetton yard has found a new home near to the entrance to the sidings, between the ground frame and the scrap merchants.

Of course, trains still had to run at the same time :thumbup:.

I like the 5th picture on the first set, with the train breaking out of the country onto the level crossing! Great photo.
