Geof inherited a Bachmann THOMAS THE TANK Engine that had been reworked by a fellow modeler. The model as received had been BLACKENED. While this may seem sacrilege to some, a re-build was felt neccesary to better fit with the BTR "family" look.
A real Locomotive with a similar appearance was NSWGR No. 1804, B&W photo attached.
The full story can be read on Geofs website on the "Latest News" page.

Hi Trevor,
You may be correct, my reference was poorly based.
Your comment has set me down a new path of inquiry as to No. 1804 history and use.

Well it's just that it looks like Camden but when I look again it could also be Yass Town I remember going to Camden by train as a kid but not Yass but then the Yass hysterical society do have many pics of the Yass Tram and I just seem to sort of well you know how it is you could contact them, decent crowd (02 6226 - 4966) or the Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere... Trouble is when you start delving into history of these sorts of things there are so many who deliberatley throw red herrings into the way... I had this happen when I was researching the Balmain Dummy, one account of the closure and removal entirely different to the other and both parties claiming to have been there with pictures as evidence...... I no longer rely to much on "records" eg the parramatta Steam tram was sposed to have stopped running before I was born yet I have a pic of me and my Dad & Grandfather in frort of the Depot building with the doors open in front of a motor taken around 1952....
Then again this video shows a 13 class working the Yass Tram; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJEQ...raries.nsw.gov.au/campbelltown/transport.html < Link To http://www.westernsydneyl...elltown/transport.html
But hold on to your budgie smugglers 1804 is now listed as being at Goulburn rail heritage centre...

I really like that, great job.

The only point I would change if it was mine would be the smokebox front and door. I'd go for a simpler, British type design rather than the US looking one.

I agree, change the smokebox door.
I also conducted a Thomas-etomy (or Thomaxorcism?) and removed the puffy growth on the front of the engine, I replaced it with what I hope was a better looking smokebox, I never got around to repainting un-Thomas, now sold.

Nice Percyetomy, I also had a Percy that got the same treatment, I just wish I could have changed those bent piston rods.

I was thinking about a Percy bash (stop sniggering at the back there) , I shall have to give it more serious thought, is the smoke box door constructed of plasticard ?, I was wondering if a GRS one would fit .
Thomas seems vastly improved too by his make over :clap:

It's a surprise that there aren't more Thomas and Percy conversions when you see what can be done with them.

The purple dome was the cap of an underarm deodorant ball type dispenser.
