The view from Hedgebottom

Thank you James ,If anyone is cross referrencing with the timetable on page 1 :nerd: its the 1.17 leaving Hedgebottom to Rotherfield , I hope no one is :rolf:

Today I noticed that Number 5 Will O' The Wisp running light engine, she now looks a bit more subdued after its spell in the workshops.

Well compared to the picture on page 2 . The difference being , rivit detail on the buffer beams, air pump , air tank, air hose, British Railways insignia, matt finish, name & numberplate moved and a stab at some weathering, which barely shows up in the photo.
Still to do , glaze windows ,add crew unfortunetly I cannot get the cab off to paint whats in there.

I was surprise as that it was only 2 coaches as the warm weather meant that people wanted to head for the coast . Some 5 minutes later I was doubly surprised to hear another train approach. Number 15 an ex U.S.A. T.C. Porter 0-4-0 arrive with a relief train

This Loco is seldom seen at Hedgebottom as it generally spends its time shunting at the exchange siding in Rotherfeild.

Great atmosphere, Garry.
Are the signals operational?

Rik
Hi Rik , They are manual , I am my own signalman :nail:

I don't think they make the saddle tank version any more , just the side tank version. Shame really I always thought it looked better.
They being Bachmann

Seen today , number 9 Wrigley seen on a local goods train, the trackgang havn't done a particularly good job trimming at the vegitation by the look of things.

It's been a splendid afternoon , just the weather for sitting and enjoying the view. As I did so I spied No 15 still without her number plates , on a short goods up to the mine , with the N.C.B.'s green brakevan as part of the consist.

Driver Bob Metcalf is expaining ( for the umpteenth time ) to Fireman Peter Procter what happened when his train was straffed by a roving Ju-88 during the war, as they wait for the signal outside Hedgebottom.

Basically James yes ! It was purchased via ebay in a damaged condition a few years ago for next to nothing and it seemed the obvious way of repairing the damaged cab, the bunker was added as I felt it looked better than the open back. I will add a better dome and funnel why I find drop on better alternatives & add more detatil as the thought occurs.

like it gary, a nice job, on the conversion, suits it!

Thanks for the kind words, nice saddle tank Paul, I would like another one too :thumbup:

NCB 19 noted this lunchtime taking 4 empty coal wagons in the direction of Seahaven for some reason

The grubby diesel contrasting with the pink Rhodedendrons
Later Harbour Board Number 1 was seen with a light freight heading in the opposite direction, the flowers having erupted into full bloom following last weeks rain.

She is later seen heading towards Hedgebottom with the school train. The balloon stack harks back to when sailing ships still frequented the docks. Mr Roberts the maths teacher is having a crafty fag on the balcony of the 4 wheeler to escape from his charges.

The 8. 30 pm from Seahaven Beach is seen approaching Hedgebottom Station then leaving towards Rotherfield, the train being full of those looking to enjoy a night out or off to work on the night shift.

This will be the last post on this thread , I would like to share what I do with my LGB European stuff, my West Wight Railway fantasy and the very occasional Transatlantic action that occurs on my little garden line as well as the Hedgebottom branch, and the title of this thread preculdes that!
Edit. No I shall keep the Hedge bottom stuff here & start new threads for me other stuff :rolleyes:
