The view from Hedgebottom

It Just grows in the shady or damp areas, I had to remove loads of it after the winter as it looked daft & caused trains to uncouple :(

Some different goings on today at Hedgebottom. A new diesel has been sent from Regional HQ, I believe it is supposed to be officially designated as a mixed traffic loco and numbered 10,but like the other diesels I expect it will see mostly freight work. But here it is on a 6 coach passenger train ! Well I dare say it might get its chance if summat fails on a busy summer Saturday, of when the Agricultural shows on.

At Hedgebottom again. Not sure about this creeping dieselisation or the livery for that matter, shouldn't diesels be black ?:rolf:

Thanks Mel , after 3 years or so it's starting to go in the right direction, but need to get the planting sorted so the colour lasts longer !

Looking good Garry!

I especially like those signals, which I think are the old Pendlebury ones....

Gary the railway is looking grand - the diesel is crying out for some embellishment, be it lining or just a name/number plate :)

The 2 signals with the green battery boxes were purchased from a chap at G rail in Nottingham, the double signal was purchased from a chap who sells them on ebay, in the garden railway section, I still need to get a battery box for that one . If I have purchased from Mr Stockers then so much the better!

I believe these signals were made by Pendlebury prior to Mr Stockers acquiring the moulds when the previous proprietor retired.

They are probably quite rare, and valuable....

Yes James you are right, B.R. coach roundels on the cab sides with a black number plate, then price up a wasp striped job for front & back of the cab, with red buffer beams:onphone:. Not necessarily in that order.

looking good gary.

Spotted today , number 5 Will O the Wisp seen approaching Hedgebottom on the South bank with the 7.25 from Seahaven. She apppears in a remarkably clean condition. The Coaches will be occupied by revelers out to enjoy a Saturday night on the town.

That is correct Gizzy - as for being rare!:rolf:

Fantastic looking dry stone wall/causeway Garry

Jublybug, I think they were from Back to Bay 6 but cannot be certain ( they were bought at the same show as the signals!)

Matthew , It's not as long as it looks thats an effect of the camera , dont ask me what as I am no expert on these things but I am pleased with how it turned out. Also short loco & stock must help.

Richie , thanks. I got a mate to build it who is a farmer, such things are his stock in trade.

Air tank & hoses lined up for the loco, not sure about where to put a BR Logo, looking to buy a westinghouse pump.

As I was toiling away around lunchtime I observed old number 1 coasting down the main line. The loco is now the property of the Seahaven Docks & Harbour Board. She probably has a load of comestables for the ships victuallers

The balloon stack harks back to the days of sail, drifting sparks and embers would obviously been an unwanted menace on the dock side.
Oh well ! back to work.

poety:thumbup:

It's been a hot languid day in Hedgebottom . The driver of Cambrai is running bunker first to let as much breeze into his cab as possible

This loco has a local connection as in 1937 it resided at Thomas W Wards in Sheffield prior being purchased.

The driver must be fantasising about his first pint of the evening, I know I am !
(Edit spotted the clothes spinner ? I generally remember to take it down , not today:rolf: )
