Re: The Oxney Island Line - from the begining again.

sorted out the trip computer to read scale miles 22.5/1 and speed read-out.

Re: The Oxney Island Line - from the begining again.

Once I slowed down and thought about it properly - all became clear. You have to program in the wheel diameter and it will only accept 'normal' bicycle wheel sizes. My LGB wheel was about 1 and 3/16ths inch diameter. Multiply by 22.5 and you get 26.75 inches approximately. Convert this to metric and enter.
My circuit is 0.42 scales miles and the Mallet does nealy 50 MPH flat out.

Re: The Oxney Island Line - from the begining again.

I didn't build it - got it on Ebay. I think it came from that big auction in Colchester last year as its got Parkside Railway written on the covers. A magnert has been hot melt glued to the axle and the sensor is fixed to the chassis.

Re: The Oxney Island Line - from the begining again.

Re: The Oxney Island Line - from the begining again.

My tram has seen some heavy mileage in its life and the chrome has long gone from the wheels so they get dirty quickly. Even with skates the tram starts to judder after a while running as the wheels clag up. The van has LGB metal wheels and bullet pickups and keeps the tram running well for much much longer than a simple wheel clean. Runs dead slow - even over pointwork.
