That is one very nice layout , brilliant Trevor

THE GROSSEN WICK INSPECTION In October 2009 Grossen Wick was inspected by Chief Commander Jobsweref. He arrived aboard the Lesen Wick Fire Train, sporting his Gold Gloves and Gold Helmet.
edc2d0e7c53b4bea8a6c0f37c6d6bce2.jpg
He had not gone far before he stopped the train and ran back to something he had spotted.
1e3db51d608a4e48bd13c1ec2791b221.jpg
All was well, the Workmen repairing Gossen Wick Tunnel Mouth passed with flying colours. They were soon on their radios to report that C.C. Jobsweref was on the patch.
149a63a87483434792884e707470d166.jpg
Something he was not happy about was the fact that the Station Lighting on Platforms 1 & 2 needed to be higher.
e38f1272e96944a29a7dd3ce8d50b45b.jpg
Jobsweref tried to upset the Farmer, but he is never impressed with any jobsworth let alone C.C. Jobsweref.
df12bc54e73b4fd5932da165ea2eaa26.jpg
The Station Lighting on Platform 3 passed the Inspection, but Jobsweref stated that the lighting on Platform 1 & 2 must be the same height before he returns again.
b8ea1f7c60f247eea92e01096890685d.jpg
Jobsweref went onto have a go at the Fork Lift Driver about the height of the stack on the pallet. The Fork Lift Driver has a very strong Irish accent and when Jobsweref asked him the best way to the MPD, he replied "Fork Off at the next Junction".
5fd007c30c664a47928ed7b0301cf9cd.jpg
Having followed the Fork Lift Drivers advice he indeed did turn off at the next Junction. Where he found all was in order at the MPD.
d2f2c601e1fa43e5a11053f0e0dac4da.jpg
Treading a little bit more gently with the Workmen at the Building Site, he was suitably ignored. Good job he did'nt need any further directions.
36eb22fdd46d4706a4795f5f43d33722.jpg
Jobsweref was pleased the Gang had put out the Advance Warning Signs.

But he was not so happy that one of the Gang was not wearing a HiVis Jacket. Jobsweref would not accept that the poor guy had been standing out in all weathers and that the Jacket had just worn away.
48962eb57a634ea1ba70941f40400229.jpg
Another Sign meets with his approval.
bbac252ddf184bf1b51ee7c07ecf9693.jpg
So Stop he did and went to check that the Signalperson was making the right type of Brew.

One final check on the new height Station Lamps on Platform 3.

 And he was gone.

Trevor, I really like your raised baseboards. What materials do you use for the actual baseboards, do you secure the track to it, and how do you secure the ballast?

Hi Mel

Baseboard Frame is Tanalised Timber
Baseboard Surface is 3mm Sign Writers Board (plastic) - I get it in 8'x4' sheets
Holes drilled in vairous locations for drainage. - Track is screwed to Frame through plastic.
The whole construction has a sleeper high lip all the way round and the Ballast just sits there.

My way of doing it - might be long way round but it works for me.

Work out there area available - Lay track out as it will be in the end on the 3mm plastic.
Draw round Track - This shows me where I need cross sections when building the frame and in which direction.
This also show me where I can cut out for sunken flower beds and build the supports for these into the frame.
I also build into the frame the odd strengthened areas so I can walk on the finished baseboard for hard to reach places.
See alongside Engine Shed (Black Road Area)

Hope this answers your question - will gladly answer anymore anytime.
