By the way..it begs the question (discussion?).
Is it better to have decking grooves uppermost or downward?

I have seen it mentioned somewhere that it allows water to flow off the decking with grooves down (as did the wooden windowsills which had grooves underneath)

Anybody?

If you got grooves - flaunt 'em!

Truthfully I prefer to hide my timber (2 x 8 inch treated - not decking) anyway

oh dear lordsnor are you feeling neglected i'm not one for posting this type of response but i have been following your thread and i like the idea of using paving blocks and can you tell me what the fencing is keep up the good work

i got the impression, that you are trying to give things a less playmo-ish appearance.
if yes, you might be interested to go one step further.
the left and the right car boxes got cut off at one end. the resulting gap was closed with thin wood strips.
the car in the middle is made by cuttin up and combining two cattle car boxes.
a little dusting with a spraycan and new roofs from thick cardboard completed the crude conversions.
