This site had a problem a while back with spammers posting most unwelcome pictures.
That is why one has to be a member for a period of time before you can post pictires.
The time interval may well need reviewing but that is not actually a two minute job and this is, after all, a free forum.
It will be looked at.

Personally, I totally understand the precaution and fully appreciate the extra input that it requires from the team of moderators.
It's a sad reflection on the state of the times that this kind of "self policing" has to be done to protect online communities, but assuring that there are people willing to volunteer their services to do it!

(and on reflection, the 90 days have actually flown by - despite my "tongue-in-cheek" remarks to the contrary....... it was just my impatience to get involved! :bigsmile: )

The Aristo X-Wide Points (10ft Diameter) are a good step up from LGB Radius 1 if you have the room. They are what I use and don't have any issues with live steam loco's jumping, the check rails could still be a little tighter though. :thumbup:
 
Thanks Keith, I'm going to have take a good look at all the alternatives - most of my loco's handle the R1's OK, so before I divert valuable funds into new turnouts, I'm going to explore possible ways of modifying the ones I have.
(All suggestions most welcome! ;) )
 
Nice vid Kev and a lovely line you have. It looks like it has been running for some time and has 'settled in' nicely.
 
Thanks Mike - still some 'settling in' to do though. I managed to run The Earl this weekend, the first of the Beyer Peacocks to make the trip over "the deviation".
Since they're the heaviest and longest wheelbase loco's in the fleet, it was the ultimate test for the new layout (and highlighted a couple of "issues") - nothing serious, and to be sorted this week hopefully.

I only had a one hour window (to get out, steam up, run, then pack away), so it was light engine and only a couple of photo's for posterity of the historic event.

The colours, slight vignetting, the model itself and the railway - all combined and created to give a perfect image. Wonderful! :)

Short answer - "Too long!":D In actual fact the first of 'em (the LGB starter and a station loop set) went down the garden path just over 8 years ago. Track powered then as I just returned to the hobby. No mechanical prob's with any of then until my 0-6-0 Beyer Peacocks arrived and they couldn't cope with the sharp radius.
Replacing them in the short term is out of the question, but I've shimmed the curved check-rail (if you can call it that - the curved bit of plastic!!) and they're fine (at the moment)
I will replace 'em with larger radius one day8|
 
As requested Giles - here's your "trimmed" turnout installed on the Quarry Branch :D

First off, I decided that the easiest way to re-furbish it was to cut back the trimmed inner curved rail and then stagger the joining curve section (rather than faff about with a short fillet of track and extra joint)

As luck had it, the track needed a "shortened curve" to link with the existing formation :)

Oh, very nice. Glad it worked out so well. Like the industrial look of the area - bit of a change from rural Cattewater County!
