The Chronicles Of Pentrich Sidings.

Cracking photos the buildings in the village look very nice :bigsmile:

A landmark was reached today as the LAST scheduled P.Way train for the "deviation" works was run!:bigsmile:
W&LLR No.11 is captured here on shed at Brinsley Lodge prior to the final working;

This weekend should see the line re-opened to traffic at last (pending a suitable report from Capt. Slogg R.E retired for the BoT of course!)
Codnor Crossing has been re-instated;

and the new starter installed at Westwood (the rest of the station area needs a severe spruce-up before the Inspector arrives! :D )

Enjoyable thread - like your style! That last pic, in particular, looks so realistic:thumbup:

Love them last 3 photo's. The rough looking track is typical of a narrow gauge line. Are you sure this is a model or have you found a full size narrow gauge line somewhere that no one else knows about and are secertly taking photos...........:thumbup::thumbup:

A really superb railway ! Having scroolled back, I agree with the comments about the engine shed - it's so atmospeheric - mind you, so's the rest of the line.

Nice one Kev :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

WOW - that last pic is outstanding :clap::clap::clap:
mind they are all superb (Hats of to you sir)

Me too, on the last picture. Reminded me of pictures of Horderly on the Bishop's Castle Railway. Excellent character - apart from a fallen leaf it really could be a full-sized railway picture.

Well, the big day finally arrived and the BoT Inspector Captain Slogg drove over from Derby and parked up on Station Road.

Nervousness mounts as the train gets the "right away"......

... and makes its way through "The Alley".

Then easing open the regulator, the train negotiates the new formation...

... making good time arriving at Riddings Halt.

Captain Slogg alighted at several locations to carry out his inspection,

before rejoining the train to continue along the line.

The Inspector spent quite a time at the new bridge,

and by the time the train reached Codnor Castle....

..... the tension was becoming unbearable!

It was with some degree of relief that the train finally arrived at Loscoe.

Nerves were eased a little when the Inspector paused to share a "Bunny" joke with the Loscoe Station Master..

.. while the loco ran around in preparation for the return journey.

After arrival back at Westwood, the Inspector went to the managers office to discuss his report.....

But, how had we done??? :thinking:

Fantastic Kev, an inspirational episode on your great line.

You must have wrapped up well to venture out today!

There were a couple of metal primates asking directions to the welding shop.......
and I was out there a little longer than expected due to a blocked gas jet - I wish I could have made it over to Butterley yesterday and picked up that spare from you!

It's forecast warmer for thursday ;)

Rummaging through some old cabinets in Brinsley Lodge today, I found this old cine film ~

OK, so it's a vid I shot today and "aged" in Movie Maker" ;) It shows how small the line is, but how much extra run I've gained from installing the Figure Of Eight! :bigsmile:
(Just need to disguise the crossover a bit now)

Well the weather forecast for today was absolutely spot-on, so the official re-opening of the W&LLR took place in glorious Spring sunshine! :)
