I've just got some Temnille point levers to fit to my homemade points.
My question is how to link the lever to the tie bar.
The lever operating rod rotates by 180° so does the hole in the tie bar have to allow for this much rotation by the linking bit of 18swg wire?
Tenmille shows a picture on their http://www.tenmille.com/Gauge1PointAccessories.html < Link To pointwork accessories page, but not in any detail.

Hi Westcott,
The lever rotates 180, but the wire to the point will not. I would suggest that you use an omega loop so that you can adjust the throw

I'm sure I saw these on a G1 layout I visited on the Cambs/Suffolk border a few weeks ago. Or was it at IMEA? MMTS will know the answer to that one

When the point lever is thrown, it moves sideways as well as rotating 180 deg.

This sideways movement is the throw of the point.

Getting the throw right though seems to be a bit of trial and error. The hole in the tie bar should be just large enough to put your brass wire through, otherwise you'll get 'slack' in the mechanism.

It may be worth forming an OMEGA loop in your brass wire that you use to link the lever mechanism to the tie-bar, so that you have a bit of give.

Might also be worth a 'phone call to Tenmille who are close to where I work....

If you have something like mine (and the ones at IMES) ........

The black plastic "adjusts" in the throw so I think we have used brass rod or stiff wire :D

Thanks all for the replies!
MMTS' pictures give the game away.
The black plastic with the holes screws as the lever is thrown.
Or whatever the correct terminology is.
Of course the first lever I had tried, before posting, the screws were far too tight to turn by hand.
So I foolishly assumed they were not meant to turn freely.
