Those do look nice. My method has been to cheat and use portland cement. Seems to working well, have one heat-stress joint to re-work (nothing has turned a wheel since April for assorted reasons, heat, dispute with a tree-trimming crew, other duties) but seems to work well otherwise.Martino said:

It all looks wonderfully mature and established, I love how the fresh ballast ties in with the other existing features looking just like what a real railway has to do in the way of maintenance.

Summer is starting to wind down on the Kittatinny Mt RR. The guys are starting to get ready for the fall weather. In a few weeks we can start seeing frost. Temps end of week going to hit upper 30's for thelow. In less then a month snow flakes could start falling again. Trees are starting to show some color as well as an increase in leaf drop Ugh. The guys are starting to put things away and getting the last of the logs to the mill untill.

The boss likes to collect trains and he just purchased an old Kalamazoo engine and passenger cars. They are from the early 80's (One of Kalamazoos earlier sets) Train ran great for the most part. Although one curve the engine kept derailing. The guys were able to fix the problem. Track guage was way off probably from the last two storms.
I dont plan on doing anything to change the set but just run it as is. Going to use it as a fun set to run and show how it all started with US trains in the garden. The quality is very good on the Kalamazoo although the detail is not like others but still not bad. I have another 4-4-0 coming that plan on working some backwoods majic to. Should be fun. Overall its a neat set and runs vry smooth.

It is good to see that your fine railroad survived Katrina intact
We have the last open day of the year this weekend (official one that is), if the weather smiles, and the leaves have already begun to fall off the more delicate deciduous bushes :wits: thank goodness most of the bushes and trees in the garden are evergreen (although they tend to shed slowly through out the year). The mornings are definitely more chilly but unlike yourself, we should not get a sniff of snow for a couple of months or more (everyone seems to be forcasting another hard long winter for our area.....hope not...real fed up losing fish in the pond). The trees have started their autumn transformation so things to do in the workshop are almost beginning to get priority over things outside but perhaps we will have an Indian summer and prolong the pleasant days running trains as opposed to doing it in spite of the weather!.
Having just reballasted the whole layout and wanting to get the new links to the mainline from the Point Rock saw mill and the quarry finished, it will soon be time to leave any other line improvements or additions until next year.

I'll echo these comments - never boring Shawn - some of these shots are full of atmosphere, I love the one of the watchtower - no train in shot, but the scale of the scenery and natural vegation just looks right to me, very pleasing to the eye.
