I came across these on Ebay this morning. I was unaware that LEDs were available this small.

I used those LED'S and on Ebay Germany you will find them a lot cheaper:

Led's in different colours = 10 Pieces

Here you see those tiny ones.

I made rotating flashing lights with it. It is installed with 4 Led's in a 4mm body housing.

Those look prewired.... I used some of the SMD type they are really small about 1mm Sq I found the best way to solder wire on was use very fine enameled copper wire. Hold the led in a small vise and solder wire right across the back across the terminals. Identify + & - buy using a shorter end for - then while the led is still in the vise with a sharp exacto blade cut the wire away on the back between the solder terminals. Using prewired ones is a lot easier!!!!!!!!

After having used the solder-sucker.. I have to empty it out to retrieve the surface-mount types!!
:eek: ::) :mad: ;) :D
Small sm LED's are being used in more and more applications.. Aristo class 66's even have them!
I have not been able to find any replacement main-boards for the Class 66. Only option is to keep the board and switches, but fit a decoder.. Unfortunately, this involves reversing all the LED's. as the decoder has a common +ve. and switches the -ve. on the function outputs.
