Starting from scratch

One thing I will say is that when many of us were beginners (me included, guilty as charged...) there is a temptation to have a rather "scattergun" approach to buying stuff, especially things that look too good to pass up - and we all end up with a more or less random collection of stock from various countries and lines...
Thanks for saying this! Will you believe that all this time I've been thinking it's just me...:D

OK, truth time - who here has got at least two of a given loco type that are exactly the same except for the running numbers....? (Puts guilty hand up....) :D

Jon.

PS: Stainzes don't count...
Well, though I am guilty of a number of the "errors" listed above, I'm not guilty of this one. Though two locos exactly the same apart from the colour of the bell and with the same running number, yes, that I am guilty of.

Guilty but both have been renumbered to represent the locs that were present when I visited the line in 1981 and one is green the other black. Oh yes I hve 2 99-6001’s one is battery powered the other DCC.

A V51 and a V52, and a couple of Wizzy Cranks. And several Shoema diesels, 5 if you don't count the track cleaner and the snow plough....

I've managed to amass 5 black Piko BR80's, 5 green LGB Schoema diesels, 3 SNCF Mikados and 8 LGB LCE sets. At one stage I had 11 Bachmann big haulers but have thinned the collection out. As fur the remainder of my fleet I have no idea what else lurks in th3 garage.

I have 3 Bachman frameless 1:20.3 Spectrum "Gramps" tank cars, I bought from Back2bay6, they arrived all the same stock number. So I got some Woodland Scenics yellow dry print, in correct railroad Roman typeface. I carefully wet and dry removed he last numeral, each side, on 2 of the cars and replaced with the next sequentially. It just about works.

I also have a rule when buying OO9 items - I cannot replicate an item I have in 16mm scale. But I can buy a different livery of the same loco/rolling stock. As in different era or operator, L&B offers plenty of opportunities. That rule went out the window when I saw Carriage & Wagonworks 16mm built L&B early era coaches around 4 years ago. Now I'm just awaiting delivery of a Roundhouse Yeo to haul them, that one does not break the rule. Oh, come on, it's Chrismas :giggle:
