A recent dialogue with a fellow modeller set me thinking about producing something British from an LGB Stainz
Like many who dabble in G scale I own more than one Stainz
Both of mine were purchased at Auctions sometime ago and neither fit my interests particularly which are Cuban, Indian and British prototypes
Anyway my thoughts were about producing a loco for my engine shed layout that appears at shows from time to time
Possibilities were a GWR Avonside tank; a Midland 0-4-0T and a GER Y4 0-4-0T
Having as a young trainspotter seen the last Y4 at Stratford the choice was straightforward
So the body was removed and the red plastic of the chassis set about with a power file
The cylinders were jacketed to better reflect those of the prototype and sand boxes added
The body was a relatively straight forward build in plasticard with a waste pipe boiler; spray can cap smokebox door; a lotion cap dome and 22mm copper pipe with rim added for its chimney
Anyway there’s now one less Stainz in the world now and an unusual Shunter/Coffee Pot as it’s successor !
Shows how distinctive this lock down can be!!!!
