I am not sure whether your quest is for information about the 1:1 Southwold Railway or a large scalers interpretation of it.

There were some fascinating and quaint railways in East Anglia viz. Southwold Railway, Tollesbury Light Railway and The Wisbech Tramway to name just three. If I were to model former small, interesting lines of Britain, it would be this kind of line, or some of the Col. H.F. Stephens ones that I would choose.

A very enjoyable video of a superb railway.
I'm guessing the motive power is battery powered Rik ?

That's my thinking as well, Paul. In one shot I think there's a glimpse of a motor mounted vertically between the frames. Looks as if the body is metal but somehow it looks commercial rather than scratchbuilt - or maybe I'm just comparing it with my own efforts.

I agree - great part of the world with some interesting railways. The Crab & Winkle has always been a favourite of mine as well - but the Southwold is the one I return to East Anglia to visit. It's become a family joke - Rik's just off to get his "Southwold fix!"

Many thanks for the heads-up - I loved the video (apart from the irritating music : ). I'd never seen any old film of the SR, so a double treat. I grew up in the area and had fun trying to spot bits of the line from my bike, though my association these days is limited to supporting the local brewery as much as possible.
