Some of My Latest Builds.

As well as my other modelling, I quite like to make freelance models. I always find it a challenge to see what I can do with a donor vehicle. I have a Piko Taurus with Porsche written on the side, so based on ideas from photgraph's of standard gauge wagons, I use New Quida wagon bases to construct SG looking rolling stock.

This high sider was built using a box car underframe

The bogie GG wagon is built out of two box cars but with a minor amount of altering and completely new frames and bogies to finish it off. This gives me a large but new wagon to tow behind MR. Porsche (aka The Electric Rollerskate to my mates).:)

This wagon has an altered boxcar underframe and is a model of a lowsider I have seen a pic of somewhere. It has a load of GT1's.

In the past I have also made a variety of bogie and four wheeled tankers as well. These used the NewQuida tank cars as a basis for the 4 wheelers and just the tanks and ladders for the bogie ones. Some have been based on NZ ones but all have been sold to people at shows and conventions. I am now making a variety of wagons for paying clients who want something a little more realistic and better detailed than the bog standard propietry tankcars. The bogie wagons generally have the NewQuida bogie wagon chassis as a base but I also built the bases from scratch as required. Some of my Saxon models have been shipped to The Netherlands and Belguim for clients.

This I hope will give some other modellers out there some inspiration to do something similar. You do not need an expensive LGB (or any other made model) to make a realistic train up

It just goes to what can be acheived with a bit of imagination and skill,

both of which i lack.....

Wonderful work, I love the twin-tank Meths wagon!

One question: as the NQ plastic is much cheaper stuff than LGB, is it any easier to stick? What glue do you use when you are joining the cut-up tanks together?

Jon.

I love sitting there watching him working on gluing them together. When he goes out of the room I take a quick sniff- he doesn't even notice it missing!;););)

I'll second the motion on the liking of the twin tank car.
