Model trains....G scale mainly, but enjoy all othe

Morning all
I have just purchased a LGB 10340 Shuttle unit from ebay , but the unit did not come with the 2 x isolation tracks fitted with with the diodes. If anyone has these tracks for sale please let me know.
Failing this my next question on the forum will be.........what sort of diodes will I need to make up my own?
Thank you all
Kev

Just a thought. Could you not make your own. Depending on the mode you use you may not need diodes, just a cut in the rail! Neil will know!

You will need diodes as the train will not return.

A couple of 1amp diodes each end from maplin will be your cheapest option

Thank you guys, as always there is some one out there with the answer. Really appreciate it.

For a maximum of 1A use the 1N40xx series I suggest 1N4004 or higher.
For 3A use the 1N54xx, 1N5404 or higher.

You don't need to fit the diodes if you want braking and acceleration the 10340 will still work perfectly either way.... fitting diodes makes the loco stop quicker ....Its the older unit that needed diodes ....The 10340 unit can be wired as per older or newer versions

whoops .....trouble is I am a DCC man and only have experience of the older units where Diode where most certainly the order of the day, I assume you now have to run a wire to the other end of the shuttle line to allow power to be fed into the track. Ah well that's progress:bigsmile::bigsmile:

Thank you very much for that info.......like wise I did not realise diodes are not always needed on the newer version, I will get on line and find myself some instruction sheets.
As always folks......THANK YOU
Kev

Kev - If you want / need the LGB "split tracks" - I think I may have a couple I can let you have - You'll have to supply your own diodes :)

PM me if interested - I'll dig 'em out and give you a price
Cheers

Thank you Ian, would they be the LGB 10153 with single gapped rail? I have a few of these, and never thought to use them with some diodes......thank you for the offer any way.
