Good evening all
I have the LGB 51070 5amp control unit and I want to use it with my LGB 55055 wireless system, so I can use my MTS hand set in anoloue mode at out monthly G Scale society meets. The trouble is the 55055 unit is supposed to come with 2 x sets of cables. I have the smaller plug cable that is used when in MTS mode but I donot have the wider cable and plug that fits into the rear of the 51070 unit. Could anyone point me in the right direction where I may find such a cable ( I think I am right in saying that this particlar cable has more contacts in the plugs compared to the MTS cable)
Many thanks
Kev

Yes thats the one.

My cable and plug is narrow and I am looking for the wider one that would of been included with the LGB 55055. If I use the narrow cable/socket the loco just runs with no control at all. So I assume the wider cable has more contacts.

That is correct. I have the user booklet. I purchased the LGB 55055 unit second hand and only used it for MTS, but at the club I only run DC and only now realise there should of been another cable included in the box to allow use of the 51070 via wireless hand set.

I seem to recall using a standard Cat 5 cable with my MTS....

It seems that you need a cable either RJ45 connectors on both ends. The question is whether an "Ethernet" "computer cable" will work. For Ethernet purposes the connectors are "handed" (that is the connections on both ends are different) but I suspect that the LGB 8 pin cable may not be "handed" so an Ethernet cable may not work. Anyway made up Ethernet cables are very common and not expensive so you could try one.... see here for info on the difference between RJ11 and RJ45 connections

The four (twisted) pairs of wires in an ethernet cable are arranged in a certain order, but a standard cable (99% of them) are wired 'one-to-one'.

The LGB cable is most likely 'one-to-one' as it is a flat cable, crimped into the connector.

Yes we went through all this when the Ruschbahn was looking for extended cables, cant remember what the exact answer was but Andy got some cables made up so I suspect standard Ether cables are very different from the LGB ones.

Thank you all for the replies. If I cant get the correct cables I will just carry on standing in the corner like a naughty boy with the manual control :D :D . I could easily just use MTS, but that would not be fair for other members who only have DC loco's.
Take care all
