It is (normally) especially if everything is local..
However, it is possible to run a single 'control' wire, to more remote locations, with a locally derived power supply. - For example, something derived from a solar garden light.

Just thinking more about this (for my 00 line that I am putting servos on maybe) so I can hip hop 2 power wires to each sevo and only need 1 further wire to each point for the signal? Which is the control wire.

The Black (sometimes brown) is negative.
The Red is positive.
The White (sometimes orange) is the signal wire.

Negative - Black (sometimes brown) - Airtronics RED
Positive - Red - Airtronics (again) BLACK
Signal -White (sometimes orange) - Futaba White/Blue; Hi-Tec Yellow; Kyosho/Airtronics White/Orange

So no confusion then - not

Found a little unit on line for about £4.00 that may help with servo points LINK It has a push button that you press once & the servo goes to a full throw, press again & it comes back. Turn the black knob & you control how far the throw is. This will also do 2 servos at the same time withy the same throw, which could be handy for track cross overs. For a remote switch you would have to solder two wires to the boards push button.

That looks like a better option than using a servo tester

With thanks to GAP GAP for the original idea

There is even a better alternative, but unfortunately there is a price rise. LINK TO SERVO SWITCH @ £I9:84 & was hoping for a Chinese version at 50p. But no luck.
There is also one on eBay LINK that looks ok, but you have P&P for Italy.
