Securing buildings

I screw mine to a wooden base, then fix a galvanised strip to the underside of the wooden base which is then buried in the surrounding ground / soil / mortar.

Mine sit on paving slabs, but I have drilled holes where the internal corners of the building sit and jammed in sections of scrap rail, I did try wooden dowels at first, but they were prone to snapping. So the buildings are just placed over the rail sections onto the slab.

I have used ally L angle screwed to the base with holes drilled through them and the building with bent L’s of brass which tarnish to be near invisible.

I have either VERY heavy building (concrete) of glue them to slate.

This subject is covered in our book "Our Model Garden Railway" by me and my co author Rainer Kleinsteuber.
(English version: Amazon ISBN 9798285485971)
Quote: "Experience has shown that it is unwise to glue the roof directly to the building. Instead it is better to mount it using a removable screw or clamp connection . This makes it easy to easy to access the interior, for example, to install lightning. Construct a sturdy truss at the center of the roof, to which a vertical spring can be attached. (see Fig. 6.1-2). Add a hook at the base, allowing the other end of the spring to be hooked. This setup enables the roof to flex slightly during strong winds and then return to its original position once the pressure subsides."

I cut up blocks of lightweight aerated blocks (they come the same size as a breeze block) to just smaller than the building and slot them over the top. The blocks can be left out over the winter when I bring the building in.

That has worked very well till this year when one of the taller buildings didn't blow over it simply fell apart in the wind. Oh well something to do over the winter.

I don't have any suggestions, sorry, but your building looks great! an i like your profile picture!

I think everyone has a Rosenbach station - usually bought with a massive discount. ;)

Mine goes back in the garage when not in use along with the pub which is basically the same, signal box and sheds.IMG_20210731_173400.jpgIMG_20210731_173452.jpgIMG_20210731_175827.jpgIMG_20210723_200643.jpg
