Screws on 2 point motors are rusted

The screws on 2 of my point motors are rusted. Both srews on the cover and those that hold the cables.

I sprayed them with WD-40 and left them for two days, but it hasn’t made any difference. The problem is that it’s impossible to open one of the two motors. Does anyone have a solution that would allow me to reuse these motors?

I should have left a bit of cable so I could solder it later, but I rushed into it, as I needed to remove the motors to replace the geotextile.

A little easing and penetrating oil, leave for a few days whilst you source tiny stud extractors..

I've found this with a random selection of point motors recently. It's massively inconsistent- not sure why.

You could try a drop of Clarke Rust Remover (from Machine Mart IIRC).

I've had a bit of success with it, followed by a drop of penetrating oil for a few days as above. I've had the same experience; some screws genuinely stainless, others not and seemingly random.

There seemed to be a period when LGB quality control was lacking, just before and after LGB went bust.

You can replace the terminal block which are available from PhilP, or do as I have done. Unsoldered the terminal block and solder in a long 2 core lead instead....

Looks like the rusty ones may be a bit proud of the top, if so you may be able to just grab them with a set of nice flat pliers to get them moving?

It is not job for ordinary WD40, you need to use a specific for purpose penetrating oil like WD40 Specialist (or similar.)
