Scratchbuilt European tram

It might be worth putting a bit of extra material behind the joints, other than just the bulkheads - as per Gregh's recent post on his tank loco. Plastics other bad habit is warping, but the seats and the roof should help with that. I would consider adding another (slightly narrower) layer to the window pillars to create a window pocket and stiffen them up a bit.

The coastal tramway is an execllent choice - it dosen't look like you'll have much difficulty making the trailer fleet. A long time ago I went on a day trip to Ostend for tramway enthusiasts - we rode the whole line on a newly delivered BN articulated car in the morning, and a traditional tram-train made up of museum stock in the afternoon & evening. It went dark before we got back, and the police stopped the train just outside Zeebrugge for failing to display a red light on the van !

I like the model and concept for the layout. I will look for some pics in my files for you. Alyn

The petrol powered trams on the caves line; no need for overhead.

Thanks for the advice and pictures. Reinforcing the joints from behind sounds an excellent idea, I'll check out the tank engine thread referred to.
I have to admit that until recently, Belgium has been a country I've blasted through on the way to Holland or Germany. Wish I'd visited in 2010 when they held the anniversary parade. I'll look out for enthusiast trips along the coast, I don't find the modern equipment anywhere near as attractive as the gorgeous older stock pictured above. The Europeans do seem more amenable to heritage stock running on modern infrastructure (strange, since we seem to blame Europe for much of our restrictive health and safety legislation...) - we visited the Den Haag tram museum a couple of years ago. Seeing a trip advertised on an LGB style 4 wheeler we boarded, expecting a quick trip round the block, only to travel right across the city and on out to the coast at Schevenigen. Time to check for offers on the ferries!
