From memory, I had trouble with one of these as well.... there is an awkward semi-hidden screw somewhere around the front end, as far as I can recall.... will try to have a look later today!

Jon.

When you do manage the process, be careful when you re-assemble, I found on my double 1K that the rear drivers were catching on the underside of the footplate - I used a couple of thin washers to prevent this.

Try this, it's for the IK, but it might be basically similar:

That's it! Those three screws that you can only access after dropping the gearbox away..... that's what I was remembering. I think I eventually found them by trial and error on mine.... if you're careful to ONLY remove the two screws indicated in fig.1 from the gearbox baseplate, then the gearbox will not open up and nothing should be disturbed inside.
Dont'cha just love some of LGB's little design quirks....? ;)

Jon.

Compared to the latest Märklin Köf (squat) shunter, getting into and reassembling the 1K is easy.

Thanks guys, Chris finally managed to get hold of a lonk to a guy that had pulled one to bits with arrows pointing to the screws. The dodgy one was indeed under the Motor Block. In fact there were if Inremember 3 hidden by it. So after removing the block it was a dodle. Also the first Loco that I have encountered that used the Large Massoth Block as a simple Plug In. Lights still not working as they should. I think played for ages with CV settings to no avail.

Next for myself is to get inside the Markling Black Kof. Any breakdown drwaings for that about.

Yes that Massoth Link is I think what Chris found with the Brown Massoth Link Block ckearly visible.

Wow Neils link works perfect. Managed to find the Kof Manual by just changing the Ref Number of the Loco. Cant show this so look at Neils post I changed 20980 to 22930. Should work for other Marklin/LGB Products.

Why could I not paste the link I used, well on the iPad everytime I Attempt to paste tye drated Header Logo of tge sites pops down and the keyboard dissapears. This makes the site almost unusabke for me. Or am I missing something? Even trying to correct errors is difficult. Which is why I am nit posting much these days.

Can others with 'i' devices comment?
If this is a general problem of the Forum not displaying correctly on these, then it needs flagging-up to Paul.. Mods?

I strongly suspect the problem lies with s/w updates to the ipad. Mine does this after the last but one update. Sometimes It is resolved simply by turning the iPad around 90degrees, sometimes by rebooting the page and sometimes not at all. At which point I chuck the whole thing:mad:

With reference to the lights Jon they are leds. Unless you go through the original Board with the decoder you will struggle.

On my IIK I changed the leds for 24volt bulbs they sorted out the problem.

Re the problem signing in. I find that if I get a pic that gives me an acceptable way to Log in below it. But in a new Window as it were. Then I have to go back to the original, arrow back the go to the post I was looking at and I am signed in. Perhaps you can now see why I have been a rare poster on here of late since the upgrade.

Re the Sachen, I think that Chris would be unhappy to swop out the bulbs for 24v, so the Direct Plug and Dodgy Lights will have to do for now. Out of 4 things that we chipped last week, none got properly working Lights. Partly due to things like that. Partly we used 2 Massoth Chips and MTS (P) does not do all you need. Forget it with Piko Chips too except perhaps changing some of the real basics like CV1 and Top Speed. Same with the Massoth ones.

Still thanks for all your help and interest.
