Ruritanian Railways - 2012

As ever, excellent photos and narrative which makes the Ruritanian railways so beloved of their travellers.

On an aside, presumably Ruritanian artists have made a major input to this:

Indeed. There is more to Ruritania than meets the eye!

Thanks for the kind comments chaps. It was nice to get a sunny afternoon and do some proper running yesterday.

those mallets look fantastic:thumbup:

No Mallet porn today: just another small scenic step in between showers. The missing fencing has now been acquired and installed at the "country" end of Zenda station.
Every little helps!

If you need a small amount, I now have some spare, though as it's £20 for 1.6 metres, I'd be looking for a small contribution to my beer fund. PM me as appropriate.

While I was taking that photo, I thought I'd add a couple of signs to "lift" the end railings and phone hut. Perversely the sun is now shining, so the sign on the railings can't be read, though I promise you it is completely legible. Trust me, I'm a retired IT person.....

Thanks Peter, I think the iron style is too 'big station' for my line. I wondered how you fix it to the platform, does it glue or screw on?

It's been glued in place and our cat has promptly unglued it. Brass pins drilled into the uprights and into the platform would be more permanent, but would probably simpling get bent as Charlie's huge rump nestles against them. :@

Despite 95% humidity and "scorchio" weather, scenic work resumed today. Main objective: getting the new postal depot to blend in better with the landscape. Some fine English artificial turf has been procured (Ruritania's is, of course, invisible... ) and put in place on either side of the depot. In a burst of unusual enthusiasm for expending effort, some of the "holes in the landscape" around Zenda station were also given the green treatment. Whether it all survives the weather and local wildlife, only time will tell. In the meantime, here are the results.....

Greenery installed, it was time to run some hoppers! Mallet No.2 was the chosen loco.

More progress on central Europe's foremost Imperial railway system!

This begs the question does Ruritania now have its own turf accountant (by appointment) :nerd:

Oooohhhh smart!

A good place for the Ruritanian women's volley ball team to practice I'd have thought?

Prince Rudolf has invited the Swedish and Brazilian teams to visit....

I like how you've disguised the warehouse's height with the bank of grass. Looks very good.
