Ruritanian Railways - 2011

Brilliant day again. Loads of fun. Oddly I didn't get one piccy that didn't have a derailment on it

Derailments were definitely the theme of the day

Ian's Lady Anne derailment. Dave beat it hands down a few minutes later by sending it airborne.

and in case you thought that Peter got away without a derailment........

Looks like fun all round. Usual proviso "no trains were hurt in the making of this film" I guess.

Your all mad, hmm just like me :clown:

Not sure Nigel but the Prince has graciously allowed me a rarely exported consignment of invisible sandstone.
I'm hoping that this will significanty reduce the construction time on my forthcoming new station.

Poor lady anne. I couldn't believe it when they papparazzi got out there cameras, no dignity for a lady. Wheels akimbo and out come the cameras. Just don't go selling it to the sport.

Looks like it might be the road spreading to me :nail:

has anyone explained to the track that it is being held to gauge with invisible ballast
The track was fine until Hurricane Dave passed by (in a blur)! :@

The engineering staff at the Lobethalbahn were regrettably unable to attend the festivities in Ruritania, owing to the not insubstantial distance between the antipodes and the land of the benevolent despot Prince. Some members of the engineering staff indulged in a little schadenfreude at the many derailments, however they are somewhat in awe of the extensive use of cutting edge invisible technology. They are particularly enamoured with the advantages offered by the use of invisible catenary. Without inviting a visit from the feared Ruritanian Secret Police on suspicion of industrial espionage, they would be keen to discuss a licensing arrangement for this truly revolutionary technology.

As we do not operate using r/c there would be little danger with the invisible catenary causing interference with our control systems

Dear Holmes,
I recently ventured into darkest Ruritania in search of the fabled Railway. The carriage driver was at a loss to explain where it was and dropped me at the local hostelry, with dire warnings about being picked up in daylight. I can reassure Mel that the hostelry folk were very familiar with the government of Ruritania, and kindly telegraphed ahead as I walked to the border. What a perfect spot for a country- although the people are a bit curious...
This chap was new to train spotting and didn't seem to grasp the point

But he got the hang of it in the end...

Whilst we northern folk get rather miffed when anything falls off the track, derailments seem to a cause of much merriement and dancing in Ruritania. In fact they seem to have employed one poor chap just to put stuff back on the track

I felt obliged to join in and I'm afraid I drove Car 57 through a passing Zillertal passenger train. Everyone was most hospitable and I really enjoyed my day. I finish with a picture of the locals hanging around waiting for the next derailment.

Important news this week. Ruritanian Railways has won back the contract to carry all mail! Rumours abound that Prince Rudolf's wise counsel has been brought to bear on the matter. As one palace official commented: "it is the Royal Mail, not a private concern". New vehicles have rapidly been acquired for the additional traffic and were on test this afternoon. Post office staff evaluated all the available types of vehicles, old and new, to check loading times and stowage space.

The complete train is seen at the border with Mighty Mouse (Mk.2) in charge. Yes, the cavalcade ascended Pootank Pass without any problems at all!

Two new vehicles were attached to the brake coach and Fakultativwagen. Both vans are in standard passenger green to make clear that they are not available for general cargo. Brakes and running gear have been uprated to run at full passenger train speeds of up to 100kph.

The new bogie van attracted particularly favourable comments from Royal Post Office staff. Its multiple side-opening doors proved especially effective for rapid mail loading and unloading. Could there be more on the way? Time will tell!

Crikey peter you do have taste when it comes to aquisitions. I am pleased the Ruritainian post will improve.... so will post be coming long distance to Cogges? or maybe even the Royal Train? I suppose arranging all Rupert's security in the Badlands of Cogges may make this difficult?

For security reasons, His Serene Hignesses' movements are not advertised. However, the palace has authorised me to confirm that Ruritanian Railways stock will be in the UK on October 15th. We are always pleased to demonstrate what can be achieved under the benevolent rule of our noble rulers to less fortunate lands.

After the excitement of new postal vehicles, normal service was resumed today. Hoppers full to the brim of invisible ballast descend Pootank Pass behind Mallet number 1.
