Running a Bacmann loco on "Zero" on MTS DCC

I'd be cautious Paul, I'd seen 2 Bachmann Porter saddle tanks go bang as capacitors blew on their circuit boards while being used under MTS on zero. From memory there is some other setting/reset on the MTS base station you have to set if your going to the OO loco address? Possibly the base stations wasn't adjusted in both cases, but either way I'd be very cautious. That said the Porters were both older Spectrum versions, I wonder if current version have different circuit boards?. One by the way was my Dubs A, the running gear was a Porter.

The newer Bachmann and Spectrum locos seem to be fine on 'address 0' analogue DCC running..BUT they do 'sing' a bit and continual usecan make the motors run hotter than they would be if on DC (or of course chipped).

i have found that running bachman 4-6-0 on 00 on lgb mts 2 , that you must program the central station so that the yellow light is on . i have run these for over a year now with only a slight buzz from the loco.
no apparant damage can be found as to date, and i run them for about 5 hours at a time.
hope this helps.

I think I've got a jar of Lucas service smoke somewhere;)

Come in handy for fixing old landrovers
