Rugen Island colour scheme

I watched numerous videos on You-tube relating to the Rugen Island railway and while the green/cream Rugen (Saxon rebuilt) coaches as depicted by LGB have the "RuKB" marking (prototypical up to late 2008(?), I could not find a rebuilt 'all green' coach with markings "RuKB" as depicted by the LGB model. The only 'all green' cars had "DR" markings. As I wish to repaint and decal a few cars, I would like just a little authenticity. Were some 'all green' rebuilt cars road marked as per the LGB model, "RuKB", or is it simply a marketing exercise only to match the road marking on the green/cream cars? Also, the green colour shade on the green/cream "RuKB" cars seemed a little lighter shade than the darker "DR" cars.

I assume the latest colour scheme is the green/cream "RBB" road marking, although even on this later scheme, the 'all green' cars still have "DR" marking.

Steve,
thanks for that. However, the 'RuKB' on the green cars must have been shortlived, as even today with the green/cream colour scheme, there are apparently freshly painted 'all green' 'DR' marked cars. I looked at quite a few videos back to the late 1990's and simply could not find an all green 'RuKB' marked car. There were plenty of green/cream 'RuKB' cars and plenty of 'DR' all green cars.

If you have an all over green "RuKB" coach originally they have a set of adhesive lettering for the coach body the numbers on this sheet are correct for the coaches as depicted by LGB.
To further this the green & cream versions have chassis stickers instead which are for coaches which at the time were in sequence and where correctly numbered for a green & cream coach. The 125 year coach is correct in running number as shown.
I checked the stock list on the rugen as of a few years ago, but can't find the photo evidence on the web. The web search I think included the "racing Roland", It was at the time when the "Doctor" owned LGB and the Rugen.

Thankyou for that information. I had forgotten the 'original' purchaser of LGB in 2007 and his subsequent misfortunes.

I checked the Bemo 'Rugen' product list and it shows 'all green' coach cars in 'RuKB' marking. No doubt Bemo did research the topic, but then they did collaborate with LGB with the blue Krokodile.

I have been looking through a couple of old books and have found a picture from 1999 that appears to show an all green, 7 window coach with the RuKB markings. (similar to the LGB '25 yerars' coach)
The picture is B&W and the coach markings are at a distance and at an angle but they are not DR markings and you can clearly see the little insignia above the letters RuKB.
No doubt the pic is copyright, but its in the Middleton Press book - North East German Narrow Gauge. Picture ref 7.3

I think I remember one of the LGB Club magazines having a long article on the Rugan with lots of photos including a green coach with the Rugan logon pasted over the "DR".
You are right Steve. There is a picture of 970-783 with a RuKB sticker over the DR in issue 129. This was the coach used by LGB as the prototype for this variation. Picture date 3rd May 1996

Tim, here are some pictures of Reko coaches and the earlier DR logo with the eagle used in the eastern German regions well into the 80's. also the use of cream and green for "special" cars ie buffet and barcars. Alyn

Tim, if you google the D R logo you will find plenty I tried to upload one but the file size too large if you can down load one make a transfer. Alyn

Tim, here are the DR logos that were used prior to the DR logo. Also if you copy them perhaps make them into a decal for your own DR rolling stock. Alyn

Rugens Kleinbahn went into receivership about the same time as LGB were having difficulties. The owner of the RuKB bought LGB but it didn't work out. Cutting a long story short, LGB was then bought by Markin and the RuKB was bought by the Pressnitztalbahn and renamed the Rugens Baderbahn.

Remember a lot of coaches and rolling stock was interchanged by the DR and stock re-gauged if need be. Alyn

Alyn,
there is something magical in German railroads. It is not just the trains but also the 'industry' portrayed in the background. There is always something going on. I am very rapidly switching over from my 'love' of Colorado narrow-gauge to the German prototype.

Tim, if you email me (I think you have it) then I can give you a link to my photo bank. Alyn
