Round Robin boxcar

Yes the cats are safe mate! Pretty much getting the RR Van to now encompassed leaving a company and getting another job and settling in...

Well the RR Van has left Cogges Railway after a lengthy spell. During it's tenure at the CR it was placed in the first train to EVER pass through the portal in the new garage wall - which was a moving moment. It has now been passed onto the Bedfont and Pacific Railroad who's Chief Executive attended Cogges Railfest 12 today for the brief ceremony.

NEWSFLASH Late on the 15th of June rumours were circulating accross the G Scale fraternity that the Meerkats had been abducted during their stay in Oxfordshire. Indeed they had gone missing and some locals, often in trouble with the railways authorities for general nuisance, were questioned. They protested their innocence saying they indeed like to derail trains and distribute ballast around the garden etc but would never get involved in such serious crime as meerkat abduction. As it turned out the kats had absconded of their own volition complaining of unreasonable travel arrangements and stress. After time with councillors they decided to stay with the world tour and have this evening made the journey to the B&PRR. The CEO of Cogges Railway was understood to be very relieved as he was worried about the potential PR damage that the story could have caused at his already cash strapped railway.

The picture below shows the Van on it's last duty on the CR where it was added to a routine timber train loaded with an unusually large order for beer, bacon, eggs, sausages and pork pies.

The boxcar arrived at the Bedfont & Pacific RR from the Cogges Railway. Here crossing the pond onto the viaduct.

The train paused briefly for the meercats to pay respects to their Memorial.

Just a thought. The last person in the UK to have it - - sends it abroad.? Heck..wonder what the charge is these days with the hike in postal charges?:nail:

A valid point, Ross. It will cost something in the region of £20-£25 to send back to the US, I'd guess. Just a thought, to avoid this becoming a problem to someone (or a desperate game of "Pass the Boxcar", where no-one wants to be left holding it when the music stops...) - while it's still got a good few folks to make its way round in the UK, how about putting a little money tin inside it - then as each person passes it on, put a small nominal amount - 50p or £1 perhaps - in the tin. Then, when it gets to the last UK member who wants to run it, he can use that fund to ship it overseas, wherever that may be?

Jon.

I don't mind sending 50/p/Quid in the post to whoever has the privilege of sending it abroad.

Same here but im sure when the time comes one of us will be going or know someone going that can slip it in a suitcase that will get it most of the way....but ive a feeling it will see a bit more of the world before it heads home

No problem the person who sends it abroad or back to me. will get refunded by me...........................Paul.............. Just keep it moving!!!

Its about the only good thing about NASCAR!! plenty of stuff to see except the cars!!

The cost of getting it to me might be too much also. It could go via my son's (UK postcode and normal Royal Mail charges) fo me to collect. So if it reaches me last, I can post it to Paul as I'm a bit nearer:rolf::rolf: That's assuming it gets moving again:thumbup:

FWIW I think after it's finished its tour of the U.K. and Eire it would be nice if it headed eastbound eventually reaching New Zealand before completing a global circumnavigation with a return to California perhaps via South America.

A 2kg parcel to NZ ..cheapest £43. Parcelforce quote - and can take up to a month.
Might just be cheaper by searching all the carriers!

£27.46 Royal Mail via air mail small packet rate so longs as it's less than 2Kg. Takes 4/5 days.
