Had a chance today to run a good length freight train with a 4 loco lash up a Rio Grande SD40-2 & GP38-2 Southern Pacific GP38-2 and a Santa Fe GP38-2 run all afternoon without a hitch :thumbup:

Now that's tail chasing :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Looks Brilliant Richie :thumbup:

Re:Rio Grande Heavy Freight Train On Rockery Ridge

Very nice. It think the GP38 is my favourite diesel loco.
One USAT Geep would pull all that by itself but the Americans do like to put more than one loco at the point.

Great video.

Re:Rio Grande Heavy Freight Train On Rockery Ridge

Thats great - its one thing I love with G scale. Big enough to run for ages reliably.

Re:Rio Grande Heavy Freight Train On Rockery Ridge

Many thanks for all your kind comments :clap:
The worse part of running a train this length is the hour spent taking them out and putting them back in there boxes :sleep:
It's also rare to run a train lately without a hitch like a derailment or uncoupling seems to be the longer the train the less problems :thumbup:
Had my K-27 running with several 1:20.3 freight cars and a combine coach the other day spent more time putting stock back on the track and recoupling gave up after a hour and called it a day before i broke some thing :wits:

Re:Rio Grande Heavy Freight Train On Rockery Ridge

I could sell you some couplings for the 1/20 make life easier?

Thanks for the offer Pete on the couplings , the couplings are the AMS body mount and Bachmann body mounts seem to be ok most of the time but just seemed to have had a bad day on Wednesday might have been the heat as it was a very hot afternoon and my curves being 8ft dia just on the limit for body mounts . Didn't help with my K-27 having a broken front truck :brokeheart: Once the loco's fixed will try a run again :thumbup: .

Cheers Steven
I thought that the train was going to blow off the rails a few times as it got very windy and started to rock a few cars , the black cattle car seems to have a bad wobble since i put on Bachmann metal wheels :thinking:

Cheers Gizzy theres several sections of track that sound good with clackity clacks where i've left space in the fish plates for summer expansion
