Reverse loop with oval

I think if you move the point one length nearer to the other one you will need less on the highlighted area, this was certainly the case when I built an R1 test loop. Of course much depends on the track radiu plus length of the straight track on the point in the circle.

For an R1 loop, I would use 7 curves, and LGB 10000 straights back to the points.

You wouldn't need any short pieces, and the loop wouldn't have an S curve....

Yes, but . . .

If you don't need the link to make a circle . . .

Or, if you do need that link, you just need to use some non-standard track lengths . . .

I've assumed you're using R3 curves/points, but it's similar if you're using R1.

Cheers

yes im using r3 curves. is that what you used on the second diagram above? is that anyrail? How can i load it into mine?

Help me make sense of the short circuit scenarios here. Am I missing something? I only see one instance. Where do I insulate the tracks? Will two psxx arsc work? Or will I need three?

After putting it on paper i still believe i only need 1 psxx and 1 psxx-arsc. Does it matter where i connect the ar leads?

all i have is r3 curves. i would like to use those
Then I would use 9 R3 curves, one more than a half circle, and straights back to the point.

The insulators in the rails can go just after the point.

I'm not familiar with psxx units, but I assume they are similar to the LGB or Massoth reversing loop units....

This vid links to a triangle I hade using an LGB reverse loop set, I would imagine your setup is pretty similar to the LGB one in putting the connections to the track. Hope this helps. The loop would be to the top and left track of this vid.

The 2 isolations should be to the bottom of the loop (or the top leg) in your digram as a short does not occur till you are on the 2 tracks where you return to the left hand track.
